Women’s HBCU Leads Effort to Increase Number of African Americans Pursuing Robotics TechnologySpelman College ATLANTA (December 7, 2007) According to data collected by the National Science Foundation, out of nearly 2 million computer/information scientists in the United States, African Americans represent 4.8 percent, or 96,600, of professionals working in the field. As a forerunner among historically Black colleges in robotic computer science education and research, Spelman College has been working diligently to address this disparity in the industry.
