On February 7, 2008, Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) formally joined the ARTSI Alliance. ECSU is the ninth HBCU in the growing community of ARTSI researchers and educators dedicated to advancing African-American interest in robotics.  Associate Professor Eric L. Akers will be setting up ECSU's first robotics lab and introducing Tekkotsu robotics into the computer science curriculum.
